Response from a reader:

Mr. Boone, You are whistling in the dark, my friend. The system will not change until the present government falls from uncontrollable corruption, and it seems to be headed in that direction.

About the same time that our original 13 states adopted our constitution, a Scottish history professor by the name of Alexander Tyler wrote a thesis on the rise and fall of the Athenian Republic, over 2,000 years earlier. See if you think there is anything familiar about his scenario and our government today.

He wrote and I paraphrase, "A democracy cannot last as a permanent form of government. It will last only until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse (generous gifts) from the public treasury.  From that moment on, the majority will vote for the candidate promising the most benefits from the public trough, with the result that a democracy will always collapse over loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through this sequence from beginning to end.  They go: From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from great courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence and from dependence back into bondage."

If this is factual, and there is no credible evidence to the contrary, we are nearing the end of our run.

Did you ever get so disgusted with the way our government operates that you wanted to do anything you could do to change it short of violence? I have, and decided to record all of my frustrations in a book.  See if you agree.

In The Nation's Party Concept I have laid out many of our weaknesses in detail. With each weakness, there is a recommended way to correct it.  This book is a manual of change to highlight problems that are getting worse each year.  One national party is in total disarray as this is written.  Go to the home page and click on the political link where I prove my point.

Some readers, especially those committed to the main political parties (usually with tunnel vision when it comes to their own party) say that this book is too aggressive, but the majority praised it.  Even though there are parts some people disagree with, most concede that it could be the answer to a lot of our national problems. We are in the apathy and dependence stage now, evidenced by the fact that we elect politicians who promise us gratuities.  Government employees, in our four governments, city, county, state and federal, represent about 25 percent of the total work force.  Where is the free enterprise system there?  It sure makes you think.
